Sore tum!

I'm a day ahead on my training schedule, yay! Admittedly I skipped a session last week but no point remembering that, onwards and upwards is the way to go. Today is rest day (apart from the ever-present core stuff), but yesterday I did a particular favourite session: hills! Pretty standard really, schedule said to do 3k warmup, 8-9 reps of 45 seconds up and walk/jog down, then 2-3k back home. My hill is pretty bang on 3k away from home the long way, and with a shortcut it's 2.5. I did 8 reps, jogged down most times, walked one, put the brakes on once and tried to run fast once. All this with a camera pointed at me - I'd placed hubby halfway up the hill to take some action shots so I can see what I do wrong so I can work on it, and what (if anything!) I do right... Then I did a run til you puke-lap. Not literally of course, more like can I run at full speed all the way up? - the hill is only 110 metres but it's hard work for my little sausage dog legs! And yep, I made it (with only a little cough at the end...), and shaved about 10 seconds off the previous laps as well. After doing situps two days in a row I am a bit sore. Right where the bra strap - and pulse band! - sits. Nice. Why not round the middle, where it's needed?

  2. Oh yes - while you're doing it it's no fun at all! And I can't plan them either, only decided to do this as I was turning back down after lap 7... Great sessions to remember while desperately trying to overtake that impossibly speedy elderly or big person near the finish line! (and I'm sure near the finish of that trail race I haven't yet decided which distance to do yet...)

  4. Lindsay: I think I'm simply doing it wrong, and not enough of it. I need to do some gymnastics varieties, they always give me pain all over!
