Right then.

Dave suggested I’d do some proper fell running. Can’t seem to find any proper fell races here in Sweden (I’m still searching though) but I’ve found one race where “the gradient climbed is a significant component of the difficulty” (= the wiki definition of fell running). And it’s right where my (maternal) granddad used to run back in the day when he was cross country champion! I entered within seconds of finding the website.

I just have to pray to everything imaginable that my stupid calf will behave itself – I saw a lovely sadistic massage therapist on Friday and she made me squeal like a pig then told me I’d probably be ok to run in a few days. Cool!

So, the race. It’s next Sunday, 10.6K, slightly unusual distance but whatever, I'll run it. Apparently you park by the finish, take a coach to the start, then it’s a nice stroll along a gravel road for 6K before you head into the woods and then UP for 2K! Right. Having complained about the Lidingö hills maybe this will shut me up...

(m.ö.h = elevation, grusväg = gravel road, stig = trail, spurtpris = sprint price, nothing for me to worry about, ha ha)

Dave – you approve?

  2. Hee hee, I love a challenge so couldn't help it! Keep'em coming!
Yeah it sounds fab, looking at the map the start is right in the middle of nowhere so I'm sure there'll be some talk about tactics on the way, and I'm sure some attempts to scare each other into submission (= walking up the hill) ;)
