I’m a streaker!

But not the kind you probably think. One of my training log sites (yep I’m such a nerd I have 3) has a streak challenge – basically you have to run every day, at least 1k. No cheating such as running twice one day, it has to be one run every 24 hours. How hard can it be? I thought, and joined the challenge. Ha…

Day 1 was spent celebrating my grandma’s 90th, including way too much cake and relatives who really belong in the give-away section on eBay (not the cake, that was yum!). Then I worked far too late and was just about to give up and admit defeat when bang! – someone threw an apple at our window. On with the all black long leg/long sleeve/baseball cap outfit to try to find the thugs and perhaps take a little photo. They were long gone of course, but at least I got my kilometre done with half an hour to spare!

Today was better, at least in theory. Just so you know – way too much apple pie and custard is not good pre-run food. My blood sugar hit rock bottom and I had to sit down by the side of the road with a spinning head and call my mum to come rescue me with a bike and some sugar. I have clearly not learned how my body works after all these years… (I’m guessing there was a blood pressure issue as well and yes I will call the doc tomorrow for a check-up)

  1. ahh hope you are feeling better after the dizzy feeling mid-run! it sounds weird that sugar was the cure for eating too much sugar pre-run :)

    keep up with that challenge!

  2. Lindsay: I am, ta! My run yesterday was fine so am convinced it was apple OD. My por mum is one of those weirdos who doesn't have a cupboard full of gels and stuff, sugar was all she had :) Plus her partner is diabetic so it was lucky she even had it at home!
