You've got to be kidding...
Following my interesting run the other day plus a combo of weak legs and feeling sluggish in general lately I phoned the GP to get an appointment for a checkup. Ha! I don't know if people are so worried about the swine flu that they book up all the slots - stay at home folks, follow the official advice please! - but the system wouldn't even let the nurse book me in. Instead I'd get a letter in the post when they get an opening. When I asked how long that would be she said "just over a month". What?! I might be spoiled by my GP in London where you'd get seen at least before the end of the next day, but over a month? How sick do you need to be to get an appointment? Legs about to drop off? The nurse did at least sound a bit worried when I mentioned the mussels I had on holiday, hopefully they'll think I have a nasty parasite so I'll get seen quickly. Frankly I hope so, so it can be sorted out! I'll even settle for some cool iron meds, I'm not too fussy...

wow that is really crazy! stupid viruses and idiots who freak out about it... just be smart and use common sense and we'll all be fine people.
ReplyDeleteanyway, hope you start feeling better so you don't have to wait around on the doc!
Lindsay: Yep, it's weird. It's not every surgery though (just that I belong to this one, geographically), I'm going to hope it's because they're good.
ReplyDeleteExactly, just behave like normal and wash hands and stay at home if sick etc, how hard can it be??
I'm still running though :))
