I ran part of the way home from work last night (7 k in total, in 49 minutes). Apart from my usual crazy pulse in the beginning of the session, guess what I did at the end?
Considering I live in a flat town, no proper hills anywhere, I thought I did quite well to find a hill that did this to my pulse! Only 30 seconds up and 1 minute (walking) down, but still. Especially on packed ice with snow on top!
Highlight of the day - question from colleague who’s helping me organise a course: do I want to come and have a chat with the fireman who’s booked in to do fire training with the staff? Hee hee - stupid question!! Some days are better than others…
Of course everything went downhill from there, the rest of the day pretty much involved spreadsheets, “runtime error” and a room with no heating. Oh joy.
I'm not really sure how to manage the logistics of going to work and running home. I still think running with a backpack is unendurable!
ReplyDeleteBen: That is the drawback. If you can manage to pack your stuff for the day in a clever way and also have the option of leaving stuff at work and bring it the next day it's fab! I only had a small fanny pack with keys, mobile etc, so wasn't too bad. But I had my trainers on all day, and freaked out a couple of colleagues by claiming I'd run the whole way home ;)
