Friday fun

Interval training, grandpa-style!

For once I’m home from work before it’s pitch black!

Ohh, fresh snow!

10 inches of powder on top of 2 inches of ice, on top of anything from 4 to xxx inches of yet more snow. At least 20 inches in total?

6 x (a mere) 80 metres later: I’m shattered. Lift knees + pull feet free from ice + not fall over as feet are still stuck in the loose snow: exhausting! It was a lot easier to make new tracks each time as the feet didn’t get stuck quite as much in the snow (ha! only about every 5 steps), and I didn’t really feel like nose-diving into the snow… I see why grandpa claimed this was the best form of training for runners! On the way back I was skipping along like a little deer – such a difference without snow up to my knees!
